There will come a day for each and every one of us when we shall stand before the Lord and our lives will be judged (Hebrews 9:27). Many people mistakenly think that as long as your good traits outweigh your bad traits, that you’ll get into Heaven. But nothing could be further from the truth. God’s standard for admission to Heaven is perfection. And since nobody’s perfect (Romans 3:23), what do you do?
God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, the only perfect person to ever walk the face of this Earth, to teach us how to live, heal the sick, and raise the dead and perform other miracles to demonstrate and prove that He was and is the Son of God and the promised Messiah that those on the Earth at the time had been looking for. Problem is, some people, most notably the Pharisees, weren’t buying it, as He didn’t fit their idea of what they thought the Messiah ought to be. Thus, they had Him arrested and sentenced Him to death on bogus charges of blasphemy on the cross of Calvary.
However, despite what they thought, Jesus was and is that perfect sacrifice for all of humanity’s sin problem. In perfect obedience to His Father, He willingly laid down His life on the cross of Calvary so that you can be declared 100% righteous in the eyes of God. Moreover, He rose again from a borrowed tomb on the third day, proving that He was and is that perfect sacrifice for our sins. Anyone at all who places their faith and trust in Jesus’ perfect sacrifice on the cross to save them will be immediately and completely pardoned from all sin.
Does this mean we can live any way we want? Not on your life (Romans 6:1-2). Instead, if you have truly placed your faith and your trust in Jesus and His perfect sacrifice, the Holy Spirit will immediately go to work and overhaul your wants and wishes and transform you into someone who wants to honor the Lord.
Now at this point, you might be asking, what about Mary, Mohammed, etc.? Well, here are the straight answers:
- Rosaries cannot save you.
- Mary can’t help you. In fact, she herself was a sinner who needed Jesus, even though she was His mom.
- Good works cannot save you. In fact, our good works are nothing but filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6).
- Mohammed can’t save you. After all, he’s still in his grave.
- Krishna can’t save you. After all, he’s still in his grave.
- Buddha can’t save you. He too is still in his grave.
- Joseph Smith (founder of Mormonism) can’t save you. He too is still in his grave.
- However…over in Jerusalem, you can go to Jesus Christ’s tomb…and He’s NOT THERE! He rose again to prove that He was and is the perfect sacrifice and cure for our sins. Faith in Him — and nothing else — is the only thing that gets you to Heaven when this life is over.
