Screenshots

As the old adage goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Here are some screenshots showing what F3OS looks like.

The F3OS desktop, freshly installed. When running F3OS from a live DVD or USB drive, there will be an additional icon below the “Home” icon labeled “Install F3OS”.

The directory menu makes it easy-peasy to get to any file or folder on your computer.

The Xfce desktop’s Whisker menu makes it easy to find any application you may need.

Here’s what happens when you try to access a pornographic or other offensive website — basically, F3OS won’t let you. Depending on the filter you are using, the exact error message may vary. Also, the URL of a known pornographic website has been blurred out here so as to not give people on non-filtered systems any ideas.

A few preinstalled applications that come with F3OS. Shown here are the Writer word processor from LibreOffice, the Firefox web browser, the Xiphos Bible study tool, the Xfburn CD/DVD burner, and the Audacious media player.

The filtering dialog settings. Three completely free of charge DNS-based filtering systems have been made available for you in F3OS, either for IPv4 or IPv6 networks.

Did you know that the Debian software repositories offer, among other things, a wealth of educational tools? That’s right! Here, the choices are made available by grade level, with software that teaches as well as captures a child’s attention.

Here’s the same thing as above, except all of the educational software offerings in the Debian repositories are being made available by subject.

In order to demonstrate the wealth of software available on F3OS and for Linux in general, I created my own “instant installs” script that make it easy-peasy for anyone at all to download and install software to fulfill any purpose for which you could conceivably need it.

All of the screenshots above show the default F3OS desktop. I have also included other wallpapers in F3OS from photos I personally took of various landmarks across the Ozarks of southern Missouri (where I live) and northern Arkansas, including the Hodgson Mill at Sycamore, MO, the Alley Spring Mill at Alley Spring, just west of Eminence, MO, Blanchard Springs State Park near Mountain View, AR, and much more.
